Ravan Hattha, a component of ‘Bharat ke Kaladharmi,’ endeavors to safeguard India’s cultural legacy during the pandemic, involving Govind and Sangeeta Bharathi in creating a children’s book to transmit the tradition of the Ravanhatta.

Led by CMAC and co-published by BHOOMA Trust, the “Bharat ke Kaladharmi” project, generously supported by Coal India Limited, aims to preserve India’s cultural richness amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Under the visionary guidance of Parthiv Shah, artists like Govind and Sangeeta Bharathi, known for their mastery of the traditional Ravanhatta, are uplifted. Amidst the pandemic’s upheaval, Govind’s return to his ancestral village in Rajasthan marks a turning point in his musical journey, deepening his connection to the instrument under his grandfather’s tutelage.

In a bid to impart this cultural legacy to the younger generation, CMAC orchestrates the creation of a children’s book, with Govind and Sangeeta actively involved in its illustration. Their intimate understanding of the Ravanhatta infuses authenticity into the book, offering young readers a captivating glimpse into a world rich in tradition and melody. This collaborative endeavor not only honors the dedication of Govind and Sangeeta but also serves as a valuable educational resource, ensuring the enduring legacy of the Ravanhatta for generations to come.
