AROOP is a distinguished journal published by the Raza Foundation, focused on critical discussions surrounding societal, cultural, and political issues in India.
Under the visionary leadership of its founder, Parthiv Shah, CMAC played a pivotal role in the design of the fifth issue of AROOP, a distinguished journal published by the Raza Foundation. This edition, themed ‘Future,’ captures the collaborative spirit of over 40 to 60 individuals from diverse fields who aimed to educate the public and challenge the Indian government’s Central Vista redevelopment project. Guest-edited by Ananya Vajpeyi, the issue critiques the erosion of democratic values and the construction of new monuments through op-eds, research articles, interviews, petitions, and more, fostering critical discussion on the civilizational crisis and its impact on the future.
The design of this edition, inspired by the red sandstone of iconic structures like the India Gate and Red Fort, integrates photographs by renowned photographers such as Madan Mahatta and Raghu Rai, enhancing the visual narrative. CMAC’s thoughtful design incorporates images of sculptures, artefacts, paintings, and detailed maps, providing a comprehensive visual context to the written discourse. By intertwining historical references with contemporary critiques, CMAC’s design for AROOP tries to evoke a blend of form and content, contributing significantly to the ongoing dialogue on India’s urban and cultural transformation.
